

Day Trips
Handa Island Bird Reserve, where puffins, razorbills and guillemots can be seen nesting April – July and Great Skuas, Arctic Skuas, Fulmars and Kittiwakes from May – September. Binoculars are a must.
Cape Adventure International, Rhiconich enjoy a days activity kayaking at the centre.
Sandwood Bay is one of the most magnificent beaches in Britain and is accessed by a 4 miles walk. Owned by the John Muir Trust there is a small donation box at the beginning of the walk.
Durness
Smoo Cave can be accessed either by boat or footpath is a must to see.
Loch Croispol Bookshop & Restaurant and Durness Stonecraft, specialising in hand carved, quality stonework.
Balnakeil Craft Village is just outside Durness and there are various arts and crafts to be seen as well as the new chocolate fountain shop.
Ullapool
Lochbroom Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool has organised activities during the summer holidays or you can simply browse around the many gift and craft shops.
Inverewe Gardens south of Ullapool is a full day out and well worth the visit. Owned by the National Trust for Scotland and there is a very good restaurant just outside the centre too.
Falls of Shin, Invershin, where salmon can be seen leaping up the river. An excellent day out with the gift shop and restaurant to visit, woodland walks to take and play area for the children. Nearby is the Caledonian Curry Company where you can pick up a range of gourmet ready meals and award winning pepper sauces and chilli relishes.
Dunrobin Castle, Golspie is home to the Duke of Sutherland and open to visitors to explore the castle and gardens. Daily Falconry displays are a must to see in the grounds and so too is the museum.
Timespan Visitor Centre, Helmsdale and right on the north cost of Caithness at John O’Groats, day trips to visit the Orkney Isles are available June to September.
